NIDC finishes drilling a development well in Rag Sefid

National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) managed to successfully complete drilling of development well No. 148 of Ragsefid oilfield.
According to the report, the well which was drilled by NIDC's Rig No. 93 was originally a relief well aimed to kill the blowout of Ragsefid well No. 147
The report also says Rig No. 93 performed the bottom kill operation by entering the targeted point at the depth of 2,341 m after 33 days of drilling. After controlling the blowing well, the operation went on to the depth of 2,514 m that made the well productive.
Based on the same report, the drilling job was estimated to last 80 days but with the effort of NIDC it was completed in 75 days saving the company five days.
Ragsefid oilfield is situated 150 km southeast of Ahvaz, in the southwest of Iran. The field was discovered in 1964 and is the country second largest in terms of gas reservoirs and has 54.16 trillion cubic feet of natural gas as well as 16.5 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.
